Subject: CASBHC Receives Award from Perrin Family Foundation
Announcement: The Connecticut Association of School Based Health Centers was recently awarded a $15,000 grant from the Perrin Family Foundation to strengthen health care access for children through school based health centers in nineteen Connecticut communities. Students enrolled in the school based health centers can access medical care and mental health counseling in school during the school day, with some sites also offering dental services. School Based Health Centers keep students healthy and in school so they can maximize their opportunities for learning. This project will focus on the positive impact of prevention and early intervention in this unique model of health care delivery, utilizing outcome data to demonstrate the benefits of having a full range of health care services available in school. The Perrin Family Foundation, founded in 1994, is committed to providing equal opportunities for children and young adults to lead safe, productive, and creative lives. The Foundation believes that Youth Voice is an essential component in helping to build healthy communities, and as such funds youth leadership skill development programs in Fairfield County as well as youth-led social change programs throughout the state in underserved communities.
